Overview

Automated phone screens help you gather early candidate insights without scheduling live calls. Candidates respond to a short set of questions on their own time, and you review the results directly from their profile. This tool is designed to save time during early screening, especially for high-volume roles.

Helpful note: Phone screens are one-way and asynchronous. Candidates respond when it works for them.


Availability and Setup

  • Automated phone screens are available as an add-on for WISE Recruiting Assistant (WRA) accounts

To activate phone screens:

  • Click your name in the top right of your WRA dashboard - then click Settings

  • On the left side menu, scroll down and click into Phone Screening

  • Click Subscribe & Choose a Plan

  • Choose a monthly plan and click Add to Subscription

What automated phone screens do

  • Collect early qualification signals before live interviews

  • Reduce time spent scheduling and conducting phone calls

  • Create a consistent screening experience across candidates


Invite a candidate to a phone screen

  • Open the candidate profile

  • Click Request Phone Screen

  • Select a phone screen template

  • Preview the questions included

  • Click Send Invite

Helpful note: Candidates receive the phone screen by email and can complete it on their own schedule.


Review phone screen results

Once completed, the phone screen appears on the candidate profile under the Screening section. You'll see:

  • Audio recordings of each response

  • Written transcripts

  • Highlighted keywords

Helpful note: These insights are informational and meant to support your decision making, not replace it.


Notifications

You'll be notified by email when a candidate completes a phone screen.


When to use phone screens

Automated phone screens work best when you want to quickly confirm role fit or baseline experience, screen a high volume of applicants, and decide who should move forward to a live interview.
