Overview
How you manage your job postings affects both job board compliance and how quickly they go live. Most delays, errors, and duplicate flags come down to a handful of avoidable issues: location changes, repeat postings, combined roles, and inconsistent company information. Here is how to handle each one correctly.
Managing job locations
Update the location on your existing posting instead of creating a new one. Job boards often flag postings within a 35-mile radius as duplicates.
If you are moving a job to a nearby city, for example within 11 miles, update the location on the current posting rather than creating a new one.
Location settings do not carry over automatically. Enter the specific city in the location field for each new posting before publishing.
Handling closed job postings
If you close a job posting, you can reopen it later without losing access to your candidates. WRA keeps all applicant data and resumes, so you can keep emailing candidates and scheduling interviews even after a posting is closed.
Avoiding duplicate postings
Do not create a new posting for a role if the original is already active. Job boards expect one posting per open role.
If you have accidentally created a duplicate, close the newer one, update the original as needed, then reopen it.
Keeping each listing to one role
Each job posting should represent a single role with one clear title and description. Combining two distinct roles into one listing, for example a Sales Manager and an Office Admin posted together, can confuse candidates and delay approval. If you are hiring for two roles, create two separate postings instead of combining them into one.
Keeping your company information consistent
Your About Company section should name only one business, and that name needs to match your account. If the section mentions multiple business names, or a name that does not match your account, job boards may flag the ad. Edit the About Company section so it lists only the business name tied to your account.
Helpful note: If you get an error saying you already have a job of the same type within 35 miles, select Custom Job to create a new posting with a unique title and a location far enough from your existing one, generally at least 35 miles.
Common Questions
Will I lose my candidates if I close a job posting?
No. WRA keeps all applicant data and resumes, so you can still email candidates and schedule interviews after a posting is closed.
Can I move an active job posting to a new location?
Yes. Update the location on the existing posting instead of creating a new one, especially if you are moving within about 35 miles, to avoid duplicate detection.
Do location settings carry over to my next job posting?
No. You will need to manually enter the city for each new posting before publishing.
What should I do if I accidentally created a duplicate posting?
Close the newer one, update the original posting as needed, then reopen it.
Can I combine two roles into one job posting?
No. Each listing should represent one role. If you are hiring for two positions, post them separately.
Why was my ad flagged over my company information?
Your About Company section likely names more than one business, or a name that does not match your account. Edit that section to list only the business name on your account.
